Illustrator - Introduction
Students will gain a basic understanding of the Illustrator CS5 vector drawing software package, and some experience to create professionally designed illustrations.
Entry Requirements
This course requires a solid understanding of computers, importing, locating and opening files on a PC platform. It is also required that students have a working knowledge of the internet. Some sort of illustration/drawing ability is also a plus.
Student Instructions
Students are required to bring a notepad, pen and pencil. A memory stick/USB flash drive for saving and storing your work to take saved files between home and the course.

- File structure and its importance.
- Design principles and elements.
- The program/software design workspace/layout.
- Working with the program drawing tools and controls.
- The importance of using layers.
- Creating/saving industry standard documents.
- Placing/importing the various content into illustrator.
- Using both the pen and paint brush tools to create illustrations.
- Selecting and manipulating objects.
- Understanding colour
- Exporting/ outputting pages to multiple media. (Web and Print)

This course is designed to cater to the individual learners need. It is predominantly self-paced with hands on facilitator instruction and assistance.

This course is an introductory course, aimed at the introductory level user, which will give you a sound understanding of the software and provide you with the relevant experience to create professionally designed illustrations.
