Learn and understand the techniques and safety requirements associated with (Gas Metal Arc) MIG welding.

Student Instructions

You must comply with Workplace, Health and Safety requirements as follows: a shirt with long sleeves, long pants and closed in shoes must be worn in class. Shirt and trousers can be old, but to prevent burns must be of Cotton, NOT polyester. Long hair should be tied back.

You will also need to bring your own welding gloves – these can be purchased at Bunning for approx $10. If you already have a welding helmet please bring that – if you don’t have a helmet one will be supplied.

TAFE catering is closed on Saturdays, so make sure you bring along some lunch.

Topics

Gas metal welding theory, setting up, the types of wire, gas and metals used, the process followed to achieve a quality weld.

Theory and hands-on.
Please note tutor may change due to unforseen circumstances.

Outcomes

You will be able to safely operate a MIG welder with mild steel. A certificate of participation will be issued on completion of the course.
