Flamboyant Watercolours for beginners
Been thinking about it? Well, Judy will show you that it is never too late to start to paint. Students will learn about stretching paper, brushes, mixing paints, flat and graded washes, wet-in-wet, wet on dry, textures, glazing and other techniques. Judy’s extraordinary versatility and total fascination for dramatic effects will show you how to use colour and light to develop your paintings. Her enthusiastic and innovative approach to painting techniques will stimulate and inspire you and bring to life her philosophy that art is a shared experience. So, if you’ve felt the urge but haven’t taken that all important first step, here is your chance to join with others in the same position and do something which can change your life.

MATERIAL LIST
REFERENCE MATERIAL: Please bring photographs of landscapes/seascapes, boat scenes (reflections), rocks, flowers, (close ups, Underwater life, Venetian Masks etc)
Please try to get materials suggested (Beware, some art stores will sell anything to beginners) these are the basic requirements.
PAINTS: For those who already have paints, bring what you have, for those just starting I recommend that you invest in ARTISTS’ quality paints: Lemon Yellow, New Gamboge, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Scarlet Red, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, & Pthalo Blue or Prussian Blue
BRUSHES: 1 x large hake wash brush or No. 12 Squirrel Mop(flat with point), Art Basics or Neef Brands, 1 x No.8 Round Soft Taklon, 1 x No.2 Taklon Rigor, 1 x ¾” flat taklon, & one small cheap taklon brush for masking.
PALLET: 1 x Deep- welled pallet with large wash area (Richeson is a good brand) to keep expenses down just bring some white plastic plates and small mixing containers.
PAPER: 1 x sheet Arches or Saunders 185gm Medium Cold Pressed and 1 x sheet Arches or Saunders 300gm Medium Cold Pressed
MISC: *water spray bottle, *Rag or toweling, *Piece of white candle, *Removable Masking Fluid (W&N), & Masking rubber, A4 Acid Free Sketch Book, 4B Pencil, & Kneadable Rubber, *A board approx 45cm x 55cm to rest your paper on, *Roll masking tape *And lots of enthusiasm!
NB This can be an expensive exercise for students starting out for the very first time not knowing whether or not you wish to continue, Judy can offer the beginner a “Beginners Kit” at a non- profit cost of $75.00. You will still need to bring items on MISC list marked * that won’t be included in kit. Please inform Judy if you want to purchase one so she can have it ready for you on the day.

DIY - Interior Design Piece of Art
The course will enable individuals to explore their creative abilities and ideas onto canvas. During the lessons individuals will have an understanding of their home and decor, and how their paintings are going to relate within their living environment.The course emphasizes on the basic application of colours and techniques for beginners who would like to expand their Art Skills.

Develop your own style of handmade cards
Share your creative talents with friends and family by making your own cards. In this course you will learn new techniques using an array of professional products, tools and the popular Cuttlebug machine. With a combination of stamping, embossing, embellishing and the use of watercolour crayons, chalks and inks you will be sure to create personalised cards for special occasions. This course is hands on, fun and rewarding!

Please bring a HB pencil, eraser, scissors and ruler. The teacher will provid you with a basic essential kit in the first lesson which you will need to pay her $25 for. The kit includes: Ranger Ink Blending Tool, Double Sided Adhesive Super Tape 50m x 6mm, 2 Sheets of Magic Mount Adhesive Foam, Bone Scorer, Aquash Water Brush Medium. The Retail value of the kit is $39.75

Each class will be themed for example: class one will be a feminine theme which will include making paper flowers, class two a masculine theme and class three will be dedicated to making Christmas cards where you can include those happy snaps from throughout the year. Drawing - Intermediate
Students will be challenged to explore the vibrancy of colour as well as black and white, using a variety of drawing media. Individual drawing techniques and styles will be consolidated and further explored. Colour theory will be covered to provide students with the knowledge to approach both still life and figure drawing. Final studio drawings will be developed from realism to semi abstraction.

Exploring techniques & textures with watercolour & mixed media
Judy will be sharing a variety of technical skills relating to Watercolour, including the introduction to a variety of texture techniques using different paper surfaces and large washes, Inks and collage to create some flamboyant effects.

Figures & Faces with watercolour and mixed media
This course will help you to develop your drawing skills to attain likeness and character to your portraits and figures. Judy will teach you 5 essential painting elements when painting figures & faces, be it a lion or a person: drawing, value, colour, composition and edges, then you will learn how light and colour influence skin tones. You will learn how to work from photographs and how to bring your portraits to life. You will also learn how to indentify colour and temperature of light and shadow and to obtain those great purples, greens and red tones. Choosing your own subject to work with will help personalize your paintings.
