This introductory course is designed to prepare you for the requirements of a front line receptionist position including customer service, bookings, telephone protocol, appointments and much more.

Topics
- Image and Personal Presentation: including nails and hands, make-up, the way we present ourselves.
- Communication Skills: Verbal communication, meeting the public, unscheduled visitors, handling a number of visitors, handling complaints, organisation skills – individual and team.
- Telephone techniques: Using your voice effectively, types of difficult callers, screening calls, dealing with difficult callers, office equipment, fax machine.
- Streamlining Communication: The job board, screening calls, dealing with difficult customers.
Other topics include: How to use a diary effectively, rules for taking messages, electronic messages-emailing, how to set up a letter/fax header – using Microsoft Word, creating your spreadsheet – using Microsoft Excel, activity to enter into spreadsheet, customer contact, workplace health and safety.

You will receive an easy to follow manual and other hand outs from the teacher with activities and group discussions.
Outcomes
Students will gain an understanding of Frontline reception work. You will learn how to deal with customers and fellow work mates of all levels face to face and also over the phone. You will also gain knowledge in typing business correspondence.

The role of the Modern Executive Assistant is a particularly sensitive and influential role. Due to an Assistant’s close proximity and working relationship with the Executive and the Board of Directors, it is now common for Assistant’s to act as their representative. This course develops the skills and knowledge of an Assistant to a professional level. It will enable them to understand and meet the needs of Senior Executives.
