Cook for Life - healthy living program
Queensland Health and Gold Coast Institute of TAFE have designed this program to provide practical cooking skills and food preparation with a qualified chef. The course consists of 2–4 sessions for a total of 12 hours.
Who is the program for?
- Parents or guardians of young children
- People from culturally diverse backgrounds; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
- People with a chronic disease or who are starting to see the health consequences of a poor lifestyle and
- Caregivers of people with a chronic disease
- Anyone looking for a healthier eating program
A concession or reduced fee may be available to eligible participants. *Eligible participants (Parents or guardians of young children/People from culturally diverse backgrounds; People with chronic disease or who are starting to see the health consequences of a poor lifestyle) pay $50 *Eligible with concession (Govt Issued Healthcare/Pensioner card) pay $25

Because of the diversity of the people who would benefit from attending this course we intend to be flexible on when and where courses are delivered. If our scheduled courses do not fit your circumstances please contact the Lightbulb office to advise when and where you would like to see the course delivered i.e. daytime. Once enough people are registered with the same request a course will be scheduled to meet this need.
Entry requirements
None. This program will benefit individuals who have or are at risk of chronic disease conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and other metabolic disorders (BMI above 25, high BGL or HbA1c levels) but is also ideal for family, friends, carers and the health conscious.
Student instructions
For the course you will be required to bring the following: small/medium vegetable knives, an apron, headscarf or hairnet and a pen for taking notes. All ingredients and resources for this course are supplied.Please wear COVERED IN sturdy footwear. Handouts and recipe book provided.

Natural Skincare workshop
Learn the secrets of creating your own natural skincare products. We offer the opportunity to invent your own personal line, individually tailored to combine personal tastes with your particular skincare needs, from a Naturopath/Beauty Therapist. Make a cleanser, toner, facial scrub, facial mask, lip balm and moisturiser, using all natural, plant derived ingredients and learn about the latest natural anti-aging ingredients. Professional Makeup application and techniques

Basic Thai Reflexology Foot Massage
Love to have a foot massage? What about to give other a massage? Outcomes

Basic Therapeutic Family Massage
This course is designed for those wishing to gain confidence and skill in their ability to touch, in a sensitive and informed manner, friends, relatives or acquaintances in need of care.
You will learn an ordered sequence of massage techniques based on Swedish massage to cover the whole body. The general physiological effects and contraindications of massage. Basic skeletal, muscular and circulation systems to gain a clear image of the structures underlaying the skin. To integrate body awareness of both giver and receiver, observe energy exchange and emaotional aspects which may be triggered by specific techniques. Students are encouraged to work on each other in variable pairs to gain experience in contacting a variety of body structures.

This course introduces you to the concept that our thoughts and feelings may be associated with the body symptoms that we experience. We review some of a growing body of evidence to support this idea. Lesley Bailey is a teacher, naturopath and counsellor who has worked in the complementary medicine field for over 12 years. She currently works as a Blackmores Naturopath and has a private practice in Worongary, Gold Coast Hinterland. Feldenkrais Awareness through movement
The focus of these classes is on developing skill and awareness in how we co-ordinate the muscles of the body to perform everyday events such as computer work, gardening, walking, bending, standing, gym workouts, sports and even driving your car.
