X Factor here I come!
16th February 2011
With the assistance of talented vocalist and songwriter Jamie Lee Wilson you will be well on your way to auditioning at the next X Factor.
Jamie Lee Wilson has been wowing audiences with her energetic vocals on the London, Australian and the European club scenes.
Jamie has designed two courses for Lightbulb Community Education – one to lure you out of ‘Singing Beyond the Shower’ and the other to share her skills in the ‘Art of Songwriting’.
Jamie said in the ‘Singing Beyond the Shower’ course, budding singers will have the opportunity to develop their voice beyond the basics.
“Beginning with breathing, pitch and aural training, they will advance to performance, recording/ stage work and healthy techniques to increase range, volume, correct pitch and intonation.
“I will also impart my business experience surrounding the music industry including everything from dealing with booking agencies to networking.
“Students will have the opportunity to perform both in a group and solo and have their performance critiqued and improved by an industry professional.
“Students can expect outcomes such as improving their voices, learning correct technique and how to engage an audience through their performance.
“Beginners will learn how to sing and develop their voice while the more advanced student will learn new techniques, how to improve on what they have and what’s missing in their approach to employment in the music business,” she said.
The ‘Singing Beyond the Shower’ course commences on Tuesday, 15 March until Tuesday, 19 April and Tuesday, 31 May until Tuesday, 5 July and will run from 6 to 9pm.
If on the other hand you would like to learn the ‘Art of Songwriting’, Jamie will teach you that there are no absolute rules or formulas for songwriting.
Jamie said that for every rule there is a song that broke the rule and succeeded, but there certainly are songwriting techniques that will help to bring out the best songwriter possible in you.
‘The Art of Song Writing’ will offer new approaches to songwriting, an understanding of the creative process and techniques to make your lyrics work.
“Students will analyze popular songs, why they’re successful and look into the ‘business’ side of the music business.
“After six weeks, students will have a greater arsenal of song writing tools and their own, original song recorded.
The ‘Art of Song Writing’ will commence on Wednesday, 9 March until Wednesday, 13 April and Wednesday, 1 June until Wednesday, 6 July and will run from 6 to 9pm.
